Our Atlanta, GA Water Filtration Services

When it comes to water filtration systems, there are essentially three options for Atlanta residents, and the type you choose will depend on your goals and needs. Call us today for a quote!

Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration Systems

Reverse osmosis water filtration systems are one of the most popular types of water filtration systems. They are highly effective—removing up to 99% of contaminants that can cause taste, smell, and even health issues. They also remove minerals in the water, which can help soften water (great for hair, skin, and nails, plus plumbing and appliances!) These chemical-free filtration systems work by applying pressure to push water through the filter. The water passes through, while harmful contaminants stay securely in the filter.

Ultraviolet Light Disinfection Systems

These systems are more for bacteria, virus, and microorganism concerns—making them a popular choice for wells, ponds, and other water sources that might be susceptible to algae and bacteria growth. UV light disinfection systems use UV light to naturally and efficiently kill these microorganisms. Keep in mind, however, that these systems do not filter out chemicals, non-biological contaminants, or minerals.

Water Conditioner / Softener Systems

People who choose water softeners are often most concerned about hard water issues (resulting from high mineral content) that can have a detrimental effect on skin, hair, laundry, appliances, plumbing, and more. Water softeners and conditioners work by using a process called ion exchange, where calcium and magnesium ions are exchanged for sodium ions within a resin tank. This makes the water “softer” by reducing the mineral content. Keep in mind that many of these systems use sodium additives to soften the water.

Why Atlanta, GA Needs Quality Water Filtration

Concerns Over PFAS

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently reported that the tap water in several Atlanta counties contains per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as Forever Chemicals. These chemicals have been linked to cancer and impaired immunity, even at low levels. Reverse osmosis is incredibly effective at removing PFAS.

Issues With Pollution

According to an article from Emory University, one of the biggest threats to Atlanta waterways—including the Chattahoochee Water Basin where we derive our drinking water—is pollution due to issues with sewage infrastructure. Combat any potential pollution issues that could threaten the health and safety of your family with comprehensive water filtration systems.

Up Your Eco- and Cost-efficiency

Single-use plastic water bottles are not only bad for the environment—they’re bad for your wallet (and for your back, when it comes to lugging them around!). A residential water filtration system can help you reduce plastic waste and lessen the carbon footprint associated with manufacturing and transporting bottled water.

Boost Your Property Value

A whole-home or business water filtration system is a sought-after feature for Atlanta real estate buyers (residential and commercial). So every system we install is an investment in health and safety—and in a property’s value.

Atlanta, GA Water Filtration FAQs

Do I need to be worried about the PFAS in Atlanta water?

As mentioned before, Georgia water management authorities just disclosed to the EPA test results that reveal the presence of PFAS (“forever chemicals”) in the tap water in several Atlanta-area counties, including Clayton, Austell, and Covington. According to the EPA, PFAS are “widely used, long-lasting chemicals, components of which break down very slowly over time.” The EPA also says that studies indicated that exposure to PFAS may have harmful effects on animals and humans. Perhaps most concerning, however, is that the EPA admits that they don’t yet fully know just how harmful PFAS are to humans.

Initial research links PFAS to fertility and developmental issues, decreased vaccine response in children, and increased risk of several types of cancer. And despite PFAS being a longstanding threat, the EPA is only recently preparing to issue PFAS limits on drinking water.

The good news is, evidence shows that reverse osmosis filters can remove a large majority of several types of potentially harmful PFAS.

What contaminants are commonly found in Atlanta’s tap water, and which water filtration systems are effective in addressing them?

According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), Atlanta tap water contains 18 types of contaminants, 10 of which exceed EWG health guidelines. As EWG asserts, “legal does not necessarily equal safe,” meaning that just because the water may get a passing grade from the federal government, it doesn’t mean it meets important health guidelines.

The water contaminants found to be most concerning by the EWG (all of which potentially increase cancer risk) are:

— Haloacetic acids at more than 900x the EWG guidelines

— Total trihalomethanes at 286x the EWG guidelines

— Trichloroacetic acid at 181x the EWG guidelines

Water filtration systems, including reverse osmosis, can remove a wide range of impurities, including minerals and heavy metals.
